ADA in Indiana

ADA in Indiana Exhibit

The “ADA in Indiana” online exhibit has video interviews, photographs, and other artifacts that capture the experience of Hoosiers working for the passage and the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act in Indiana. Some of the topics covered in the exhibit include organizing for the cause, Justin Dart visiting Indiana, training on the ADA, and celebrating progress.

Visit the “ADA in Indiana” exhibit on the Indiana Disability History Project website . The Indiana Disability History Project is a collaboration of the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities and the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community.

We’ve Come a Long Way, But Where Do We Go?

In 2017, retired Senator Tom Harkin was invited to speak at the Indiana Conference on Disability, hosted by the Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities. The Indiana Disability History Project staff had an opportunity to visit with Senator Harkin and record him recalling the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
